Can you find our names? Each student used their own name as a line element in these colorful mosaics. We folded a square piece of paper in half and then in half again to define 2 lines of symmetry. 1st graders did so on a square axis and 2nd graders folded diagonaaly. We then inserted sheets of carbon paper, refolded and wrote our names such that the edges of each letter stretched to the edges of the folded piece of paper. We had to write hard to make it through all of the sheets of paper and carbon. Once the sheets were opened, a complex array of lines and shapes was unfolded and our names became less visible. Coloring the shapes further disguised our names.
